Mindful Body Series

  • Dorit Osher 408 Queens Avenue London, ON, N6B 1X9 Canada (map)

Last Thursday of the month

Our body is the container for the self/psyche.  Different movement based somatic practices will be introduced to enhance moving consciously.  Somatic movement approaches include: movement patterning, breathwork, experiential anatomy, developmental movement, and dance for personal and community development.

May 28th: The most direct way in which we connect to the mind and body is through sensation. We will enter the body through breath and continue to give permission with open attention to sensations.  We will allow for the flow of sensations through our body using movement, breathe and sound.

June 25th: Authentic Movement is a beautiful practice of self directed movement based on Jungian Active Imagination.  The body is the container for the psyche.  Authentic Movement developed in the  1950's by Mary Stark Whitehouse, dancer and Jungian analyst.  This practice is done in a dyad with mover and witness.  The mover follows inner impulses that occur in the present moment and explore spontaneous gestures, movements, and stillness. The witness watches and witnesses her own inner responses to the mover without judgment or analysis. Authentic provides a clarity of perception, a state of embodiment and movement that is deeply personal.
