The Sun Summer Retreat: Summer 2017
July 11th-July 15th, arrival and departure at noon.
A 5 day therapeutic retreat to address : trauma, mood, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, addictions, life transitions, loss, grief and personal growth.
We live in a world where chronic stress, an activated Central Nervous System and Autonomic Nervous System, is the norm. When we as humans have experienced through our lives anything that is intrusive to the natural continuity of our self development, our stress levels increase. To deepen into the psyche so as to listen, have insights and make changes, the stress levels in our body need to be calm and in flow.
This unique retreat utilizes the body as the guide to deeply go into the self though experiential somatic practices with breath, and movement to relax and open to sensations in the body. The physical body is the container for the psyche. With sensation awareness and imagery the different aspects of the self will be focussed on. This includes the past split off or wounded part of the self; the functioning parts of the self in everyday life and the private relationship we have with ourselves through the ways we cope, self talk and suppression of ourselves. We will also develop awareness of breath, creating boundaries and staying grounded.
We will reach deep states of relaxation, express through expressive arts to access our creativity; and receive support to emotionally release to find balance and a sense of well being. Every participant will receive daily craniolsacral treatment to support each person to emotionally release while being in a deep state of relaxation. Craniosacral therapy (CST) involves light holding of the skull and sacrum and barely detectable movements. The action of craniosacral therapy is so gentle and slight, it is one of the so-called “subtle” therapies, which claim to achieve profound health benefits with minor and safe interventions.
Expressive arts such as free associative writing, masks and image making will be used to help express and integrate the body-centered experiences. Finding our creative parts of self through imagination, play and expression allows for symbolization, representation of the different aspects of our psyche.
The primary focus of this retreat is to facilitate you to feel open, receptive and safe enough to allow deep emotions and expressions of them, because out of struggles come our beauty.
