A 5 day intensive therapeutic retreat to address : trauma, mood, chronic pain, addictions, life transitions, loss, and personal growth.
Beyond Movement Therapeutic Retreats are unlike any other retreat. This retreat provides experiential somatic practices with breath and movement to relax and open sensations in the body. The physical body is the container for the psyche/self. Through utilizing the the anatomical through awareness and visualization, the different aspects of the self will be focussed on. This includes the past split off or wounded part of the self; the functioning parts of the self in everyday life and the private relationship we have with ourselves through the ways we cope, self talk and suppression of ourselves.
Expressive arts such as free associative writing, masks and image making will be used to help express and integrate the body-centered experiences. Finding our creative parts of self through imagination, play and expression allows for symbolization, the meaning of our psyche.
Listen from within. Question borders. Position oneself on the threshold. A frontier, imperfect and torn. Wait here on the edge: this limit similar to what separates night from day, hardly a membrane... Wait here... and pass through.
This dance workshop develops the perception, imagination, and presence of the body through physical experiences in nature. A drama dormant in the landscape reveals itself, lending us its instability, transforming our posture, our thoughts. Traveling from spaces inside the body toward the environment which surrounds us, we elaborate a practice of physical listening. We enter into resonance with the place, the group, an object, a material. And so, the movement of our body encourages the movement of our consciousness, dissolving borders: inside and outside.
Explore the body-mind connection and the wisdom and imagination of the psychological and sensory states that exist in the body. Experiences of embodiment and the expressive potential of the body will be the predominant mode of expression while also allowing for multimodal approaches such as writing and image making. Instruction will culminate in a living arts performative experience of integrating personal narrative by engaging information from the body.

Mindful Body Series are introductory experiences to deepen into our body's natural rhythm using somatic practices.
Mindful Body Series invite people to listen and respond to the body's sensations, breath, impulses and images. This series of gentle and contemplative classes and workshops will cultivate a full bodied lived experience of expressive imagination.
